Quarters in the Fat Boy Hills

Gail Blakely requested that we get some hills in to help her Waco Half Iron Man training. I said “perfect timing, Gail”.

We spent the first month gradually increasing the distance of the intervals. And we varied the intensity. This week’s  intervals in the hills are a great way to get you heart rate up and build leg power.

2 Miles with 3 x 1/4 in the hills – Easy warm up from Fat Boy start to the beginning of the hills at the corner of Chandler and Dubois. Cone will mark the start and stop of the 1/4 mile.

Run a hilly quarter. Stop. Turn around. Rest 30 seconds. Run back to beginning cone.Turn around. Rest 30 seconds. Run back to the cone.  Finish the course to end at Highland school.

3 Miles with 3 x 1/4 in the hills – warm up around the playground to Fat Boy start and continue to the beginning of the hills at the corner of Chandler and Dubois. Cone will mark the start and stop of the 1/4 mile.

Run a hilly quarter. Stop. Turn around. Rest 30 seconds. Run back to beginning cone.Turn around. Rest 30 seconds. Run back to the cone.  Finish the course to end at Highland school.

5 Miles with 6 x 1/4 in the hills – warm up around the playground to Fat Boy start and continue to the beginning of the hills at the corner of Chandler and Dubois. Cone will mark the start and stop of the 1/4 mile.

Run a hilly quarter. Stop. Turn around. Rest 30 seconds. Run back to beginning cone.Turn around. Rest 30 seconds. Run back to the cone.

Run around the circle at Highland School back to hills. Repeat the 3 x 1/4 with 30 seconds rest. Finish the Fat Boy course back to the school as a warm down.
