Baton Rouge Mandeville New Orleans

Why did you open the first Varsity Sports?

It was the beginning of the year back in 2000 and we were at a crossroads on what we wanted to do with Dream Silk Screens. We were actually printing t-shirts on the main sales floor of the BR location then. The big box store, Just For Feet had just opened by Cortana Mall. And despite anxious anticipation, most of us were really disappointed.

So we said -“why not open a running store here in this little house? Baton Rouge REALLY could use one. And I’m a runner with a business professor background”. That was that.

Past winner of Greater NO Marathon, Mardi Gras Marathon, Dallas White Rock Marathon, and Baton Rouge Marathon.

Louisiana Record holder a multiple distance.

Favorite running shoe of all times?

Nike Air Edge. It would be what the industry would consider a minimalist shoe today.

Pre-race food of choice?

Banana and maybe electrolyte drink. I like G2

The night before I love the idea of baked potatoes. Good carb with lots of potassium( about 25% of daily needs)
